Skill India is an initiative of the Government of India to empower the youth of the country, with skill sets, which will make them employment-worthy and train them to be an informed and productive asset to his or her work environment. Our skills focused projects aim to provide the Indian youth with industry-relevant skills training, which will help the disadvantaged, the rural populace and the school or college drop-outs in securing a dignified livelihood and a better future. Individuals with prior learning experience or skills will also be assessed and certified under the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) scheme.

We are an authorised training partner with a number of Sector Skill Councils, which are under the National Skill Development Corporation. We have been working with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), State Skill Development Missions (SSD), Ministry of Minorities, Ministry of Apparel, Ministry of Rural Development, and the respective Sector Skill Councils (SKC’s), and many more such like.

Under this initiative, we also cater to the differently-abled Learners by offering them skill based professional courses aimed at making them self reliant by becoming a part of India’s workforce, or by taking the first steps towards being self-employed. The deaf & mute students who train at the various professional training programs are offered the opportunity to meet with Industry and Corporate HR persons, to understand the scope and options available that is related to their training.

For Divyang students under these schemes, hostel facility is available with breakfast, lunch and dinner, boarding & lodging with conveyance at our Mohali centre.

We conduct courses under the 4 flagship schemes run by the various ministries and skill development councils. Under these schemes we provide training for several technical and non technical courses eg. Self Employed Tailor under the Apparel industry, Data Entry Operator under Ministry of etc are conducted at our different locations. We have centres located across Punjab, Haryana, Himachal and Uttarakhand.

We run the following schemes with various ministries and skill development councils:

  • Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) The PMKVY is the flagship scheme of the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE). In alignment with the PMKVY, we reach out to youth in the rural and urban regions to equip them with skills and knowledge to get relevant and industry pertinent jobs. We train them to recognise and grab business opportunities, as and when they come.
  • Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gramin Kausal Yojana (DDU-GKY) The DDU-GKY skill training system comes together to provide the best possible training and gainful employment for a candidate. It is run by the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD). It is a placement linked project, where candidates are trained in industry specific skills.
  • Deen Dayal Antyodaya Yojana; National Urban Livelihoods Mission, (DAY-NULM): The NULM is a scheme run by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. Under this program it is mandated by the government to provide skill training to the urban poor to enable them to set up self-employment ventures and prepare them for salaried jobs in the private sector. The Employment through Skill Training & Placement Program intends to fill the gap between the demand and availability of local skills by providing skill training programs as required by the market.
  • Learn & Earn under the Ministry of Minorities: Under this scheme, only minority (Minority in India means only minority religions: e.g. Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists, Parsees and Jains) learners will be enrolled in skill development courses. This scheme aims at upgrading the skills of minority youth in various modern and traditional skills, depending upon their qualification and market requirements, which can help them earn a livelihood or make them suitably skilled for self-employment.

Under these schemes, students are provided with a free induction-Kit that includes:

  • Subject specific course books and Notebooks
  • Stationary
  • Study Material
  • Bag
  • T shirt (for boys)
  • Jacket or Suit (for girls)
  • Lanyard
  • Card Holder

To enrol students for these courses there is months of preparation required. Our counsellors travel across different states to villages, and cities to initiate contact with new learners. We mobilise our teams and take the necessary steps spread information and educate the populace about the options available to them:

We conduct door-to-door canvassing of pre-identified hub spots in urban and village locales in Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh; we contact NGO’s; Govt, DAP institutes, and Schools that are in contact with Dap activities; we create, maintain, update and follow up on our own Database and reference leads; we make announcements for free skill Training at the village Panchayats; we attend the monthly general house meetings conducted by the BDO & District Officers, to apprise them of our free skill training course enrolment drive. We seek their cooperation and help in encouraging the youth to join our courses.

They get in touch with Panchayats, district authorities, temples and gurdwaras, to mobilise communities and make them aware of the opportunity that is available to them through these schemes for the betterment of their lives.

Events like job fairs and industry interactions are held to further support our target group in achieving their goal of earning a livelihood with dignity or finding relevant industry specific jobs. We organise 2 Job Fairs and Placement drives every 6 months with our associate corporate partners and companies. We invite our industry partners to visit our institute and interact with our students to hire them directly from our institute.

Our drive to create job opportunities for our students and job aspirants helps our industry associates to observe firsthand the training environment that our students come from. Interaction and on-the-spot interviews give our students a chance to understand the industry related requirements’ and their own fit into that particular industry.

We train our students to understand this prerequisite and hand-hold them throughout the process.
